Carrie Lingo a 2015 Delaware Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

The 2015 class of the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame has announced 10 new members including Cape Henlopen and University of North Carolina graduate Carrie Lingo.

Carrie is the daughter of Bill and Jenkie Lingo, and the sister of Maggie and Lillie.

Other members of the class of 2015 include Bill Crowther, Sarah Gause, Blaise Giroso, Joe Hemphill, Izzy Keil, Bob Neylan, Rob Smith, Bob Tattersall and Dave Yates.

The banquet will be Tuesday, May 5, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront  Tickets and tables are available. Go to www.desports.org for information.

Carrie Lingo was a member of the United States Field Hockey team from 2000 to 2012, was a 2008 Olympian, and was a USA field Hockey Player of the Year in 2009.

Lingo was named in 2002 to the ACC 50th Anniversary team as one of the top 50 players in ACC history.

Lingo had been a volunteer assistant field hockey Coach at Cape the last two seasons.
