Cars of Tom Wilson virtual tour set Aug. 19

The Biggs Museum of American Art will present the Cars of Tom Wilson, a virtual tour, from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19.

Tom Wilson was a popular Delaware artist and international fashion model. But what many don’t know is that Wilson was a huge car lover. He kept files of interesting cars for reference to layer onto the local scenes he painted. He was also known to include the family vehicle in his commissioned portraits, and would often feature cars as the main subject of his paintings.

Laura Fravel, Sewell C. Biggs curator of American Art, will lead a virtual  exploration of the cars featured in the Tom Wilson: Super-Realist/Surrealist exhibit. Participant will be introduced to Wilson and his creative life, art and interest in classic cars.
