Milton resident Carson Sheldon Watts, a 2020 graduate of Sussex Technical High School, graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in parks, recreation and tourism management and a minor in military science.

As a Sussex Tech student studying carpentry, Watts participated in the Army JROTC program, attaining the rank of cadet major while serving as executive officer during his senior year. The U.S. Army awarded Watts a full three-year scholarship to West Virginia University, where he served in the ROTC and was commissioned into the Army as a second lieutenant. He is assigned to the Armor Branch Active Duty and will be reporting to Basic Officer’s Leadership Course at Fort Moore in the fall.

Watts is an Eagle Scout and serves as assistant scout master with Troop 95 in Georgetown. He is active with Order of the Arrow, Vigil Honor, and Sea Scout Ship 198 of Lewes. This summer, before pursing his goal to honorably serve his country, Watts will be working with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control as a seasonal police officer at Cape Henlopen State Park.
