Cecil Wayne Gibson, retired auditor

Cecil Wayne Gibson, 64, of Georgetown, died, Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

He was the husband of 41 years to the love of his life, Diane McGann Gibson. They were married May 27, 1972, at Madison Heights United Methodist Church in Madison Heights, Va. Born July 14, 1948, in Lynchburg, Va., he was the son of the late Cecil Bronze Gibson and the late Bradie Duff Gibson.

Wayne graduated in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from Lynchburg College. He had a full career in accounting and auditing, including senior accountant at Central Fidelity Bank in Lynchburg and senior vice president of audit at Sussex Trust Company in Georgetown. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his three blessed children and six adorable grandchildren, which were also considered his greatest achievements.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a special mother-in-law, Dorothy Beahm McGann.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is also survived by his three children, Jeffrey Gibson and his wife Alicia of Elkton, Md., Jonathan Gibson and his wife Marlena of Camden, and Janie Gibson Wells and her husband Matthew of Milton; his sister, Jean Gibson Gregory of Amherst, Va.; six grandchildren, Ellenora Gibson, Beatrix Gibson, Henry Gibson, Samuel Gibson, Hannah Wells and Natalie Wells; a close friend, Neil Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 1, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Mack Almond Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends, 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 31, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
