Celebrating 100 Years of Women's Suffrage: The Struggle Continues theme for Sussex MLK Celebration
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Organization, Sussex County Inc. invites the public to participate in 28th Annual Commemorative Weekend Celebration honoring the late Civil Rights leader Saturday, Jan. 18, thru Monday, Jan. 20. Join in the parade Jan. 18 beginning at 11 a.m. in downtown Lewes. Later that evening, the banquet will be held at the CHEER Center, 20520 Sand Hill Road, Georgetown. On Jan. 19, Human Relations Day, organizers suggest worshipping at a location of choice.
The celebration will conclude with the Monday Holiday Community Worship Service beginning at 10 a.m., at Dickerson Chapel AME Church, Dupont Highway, Millsboro. The theme this year, Celebrating 100 Years of Women's Suffrage: The Struggle Continues, tells that there is still work to do. In spite of adversity, never lose faith in seeking a brighter future.
