Center for the Inland Bays presents Arts on the Half-Shell

August 15, 2024

The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays held its inaugural Arts on the Half-Shell Aug. 8 at its office at the Indian River Inlet.

Celebrating Delaware Inland Bays Oyster Week with an evening of culinary and visual arts inspired by oysters, this event was set against the backdrop of the beautiful Indian River Bay.

Chef Hari Cameron, culinary director for The Chef’s Table at Touch of Italy, was joined by a lineup of area chefs, including chef Sean Corea of Lewes Oyster House; chef Ted Deptula, culinary director of La Vida Hospitality; and chef Billy Lucas of Taco Reho. Together, they created an array of delectable small plates featuring oysters fresh from the Inland Bays and a signature gin-based cocktail crafted especially for Inland Bays Oyster Week.

Baltimore-based artist Sherry Insley presented portions of two exhibits, which are displayed at the CIB office throughout August.

All proceeds from the evening support the James Farm Ecological Preserve education campus project. For more information on the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, go to inlandbays.org.
