Changing Fates Equine Rescue to host open house Oct. 5

September 25, 2019

Changing Fates Equine Rescue will host an open house and fundraiser at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at its 36-acre property at 31283 Old Cabin Road, Laurel.

Attendees can watch and cheer for participants as they guide their horses/ponies thru an obstacle challenge set up along the stream bank. Lunch refreshments will be available in the barn. For a registration form or more information, go to www.changingfatesequine.org.

The rescue’s new barn is continuing to serve horses, especially those rescued from deplorable conditions in Hebron, Md. Those 13 horses have found new life with the nurturing all-volunteer crew at Changing Fates. The horses have learned that there will always be food and water available, and their handling is now done with great care. The volunteers are very proud of their progress with the horses and their new barn has been instrumental in helping with medical care and shelter.

Changing Fates is dedicated to locating abused and neglected equines and then rehabilitating, retraining and homing them. It also provides sanctuary for horses not suitable for adoption, many broken physically and mentally. The rescue depends on donations, adoptions, grants and fundraising events. One of the rescue’s goals this year is to purchase much-needed farm equipment and hay, besides raising funds to match its grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The rescue also depends on dedicated volunteers, both with horse backgrounds and without. For more information, call Susan or Donna at 302-339-5065.
