Charles B. Scott Sr., enjoyed fishing, camping

February 28, 2023

Charles B. Scott Sr., 85, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro. He was born in Georgetown Jan. 7, 1938, to the late Glenn and Ethel Scott.

Charles, known to many as Charlie, worked in many different occupations. His longest employment was delivering propane for Collins & Ryan, later named Pargas, and ultimately Suburban Propane for a total of 34 ½ years. He never saw a stranger, enjoyed salt and freshwater fishing, camping at Cherrystone Campground in Virginia, and talking with people. He would always end a conversation with everyone by saying, “Now remember, you are important!” He really looked forward to having Sabbath Bible study on WRBG 106.5 in Millsboro with Joe, the owner-operator of the station.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Glenn (Bud) Scott; John (Jack) Scott; Donald Lee Scott; James Edward Scott and Steve Scott; and two sisters, Barbara S. Johnson and Doris Lloyd; brothers-in-law, Carlton Workman and James Lloyd; as well as a sister-in-law, Geraldine Scott; and daughter-in-law, Mary E. Scott.

Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Ellen Scott; and his son, Charles B. Scott Jr. He is also survived by his brother: Richard E. Johnson Sr.; sister, Ellen Workman; two sisters-in-law, Jean Scott and Judy Scott; as well as several nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much. Charles leaves behind many special friends including Austin Okie, Robert Truitt Sr., and Joe Dalessandro; and classmates, Sam Wilson and Phyllis Smith; as well as many other lifelong friends and neighbors.

A time of viewing and visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, March 3, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. The Rev. Harold Backus will officiate. Interment to follow in Millsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Zoar United Methodist Church, c/o Carisa Pepper, 24463 Gravel Hill Road, Millsboro, DE 19966
