Charles 'Chuck' M. Valunas, devoted to family
Charles 'Chuck' M. Valunas, 85, passed away suddenly at Harrison House in Georgetown, Thursday, June 11, 2015.
Born Oct. 15, 1929, in Hastings, Pa., Chuck had a distinguished career, first serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, followed by his pursuit of a long career in accounting. Retiring as chief financial officer of REL in 1991, Chuck retired to Lewes and turned his interests toward serving the community as dockmaster/nightwatch at the DNREC Indian River Marina, a post he held for over 15 years. In this role he served his clients honorably, and had a special love for his furry four-legged friends who visited or stayed at the park.
Celebrating his life, his memory, and all those who he touched so dearly are his loving family: Theresa M. Valunas, his wife of 59 years; his son and daughter Charles W. and Laurie Valunas; his granddaughters Gabriella Valunas, Daniele Barlett, and Phyllica Barlett; also his daughter and son-in-law Diane and Pat McCans, grandson Eric McCans and granddaughter Teri McCans.
The memories and love he shared with his family, friends and coworkers will be cherished forever. He will remain in the hearts and minds of all those his life touched as an example of love, kindness and caring. He will forever be an inspiration to all those who knew him and loved him.
An internment ceremony will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Wednesday, June 17, at 10 a.m.
