Children’s Beach House seeks Do More 24 support March 7-8
Children’s Beach House is calling on supporters to help create educational opportunities for teens statewide by donating through the Do More 24 Delaware campaign, an annual event to raise funds for worthy nonprofit organizations. To donate during Do More 24, go to domore24delaware.org/fundraisers/childrens-beach-house between 6 p.m., Thursday, March 7 and 6 p.m., Friday, March 8. Any donation CBH receives during the campaign will see its impact increased via event incentives and pledge matches.
“This year, our Do More 24 goal is to raise $7,000 to send the teens in our youth development program to Washington, D.C., for a week,” said Rich Garrett, executive director. “These are the kids who have been in our program the longest, learning about themselves, and building skills and positive relationships. The next step in their development is to begin exploring what the wider world has to offer to them and what they have to offer it.” The excursion will feature a college visit each day, and time in several of the Smithsonian museums and some of the many cultural offerings the nation’s capital provides.
“This trip is about giving our kids a sense of what’s possible,” said Jacqueline Donaldson, youth development program director. “Each of us can remember a time when our horizon was expanded. Every child deserves the chance to see the world and find their place in it.”
