The Clear Space Theatre Company, in collaboration with Sussex County veterans associations, performed a USO show in the grand tradition of the 1940s Feb. 25-26 in Rehoboth Beach. The USO strengthens America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation. Clear Space intends to raise money for veterans in Sussex County.
Accompanying the singers were the USO band of Monte Wisbrock on sax, David Libby on piano, Barry Eli on bass and Ken Schleifer on drums.
“Clear Space Theatre created our Clear Space Gives Back program as a way to use our talents in the theater to help raise awareness and funding for other local nonprofits,” said Director of Development and Outreach Stephanie Hudson Whitcomb. “We have worked with different groups over the years – Beebe Healthcare, AIDS Delaware, The Fund for Women, Children’s Beach House and, most recently, Humane Animal Partners. This year was different, as our goal was to raise money for multiple local nonprofits that serve our veterans. It brings us great joy to introduce our audience to other local nonprofits as well as support causes important to all of us.”
