“"Sylvia," a reader’s theatre play performed Feb. 26 and 27, was part of the Clear Space Gives Back initiative.
The program was developed to utilize Clear Space Theatre’s strengths to benefit another nonprofit in the community. Centering on a relationship between a man and his dog, “Sylvia” was the perfect play to raise money for the Delaware Humane Association. With two almost sold-out performances, including a very well-received doggie runway event, more than $6,000 was raised to benefit Delaware Humane.
“We are astounded by the generosity of Clear Space Theatre's gift to DHA! A gift of this size will have a significant impact, allowing us to continue growing our presence in the Rehoboth Beach area and beyond,” said Daniel Condoluci-Smith, director of philanthropy at DHA. “Most importantly, it will allow us to give top-notch love and care, and find homes for the cats and dogs in our Rehoboth adoption center, which is the reason we do the work we do.”
Delaware Humane Association’s Rehoboth Beach adoption center, located in the Midway Plaza at 18675 Coastal Highway, allows individuals and families to adopt cats and dogs in need of loving homes. To be ready for adoption, animals receive veterinary exams and age-appropriate vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered at the Wilmington animal care center and transported to Rehoboth. Additional programs and services include low-cost vaccination clinics and dog license sales.
