The Clifford Keith Band is celebrating the release of its first studio album with a party 8 p.m., Friday, June 22, at the Crooked Hammock in Lewes.

A fixture on the bar and stage scene for the past five years, lead singer Clifford Keith said the album is called "Coastal Hwy" in honor of the stretch of road they travel most, going from show to show. From Dover to Ocean City, a lot of the venues they feel most at home in are right off Coastal Highway, he said in an email June 11.

Keith said the album was recorded and produced in Nashville with Beaird Music Group after he met producer Larry Beaird during a trip to the Music City with friends in October.

“I came home inspired and started writing as much as I could,” he said.

Keith said making the album took roughly six months and two trips to Nashville. He said the band also recorded some vocal tracks at Mid-South Audio in Georgetown.

Keith said the album is the story of himself and his wife, Erin.

“The songs tell the story of two people falling in love with each other, falling in love with their life, and falling in love with the hometown,” he said. “I guess you could say that the tone is as all-over-the-place as the tone of a good relationship is.”

The release party will be fun for all ages, Keith said, with free appetizers for everyone and giveaways for the first 25 people.

Keith said the full band will perform the album live and will hang around afterward to chat with fans.

Keith said the album will be available in stores beginning Monday, June 25. For more information on the Clifford Keith Band go to cliffordkeith.com.
