Clubwomen of Delaware donate to assist Ukrainian people

April 7, 2022

Members of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs heeded their state president’s plea to help those suffering from the effects of war in Ukraine.

Statewide, more than $10,000 has been donated by GFWC DSFWC clubs and individual members to various relief organizations to assist the Ukrainian people. Many clubs chose to contribute through UNICEF USA, a GFWC affiliate partner.

The GFWC Women’s Club of Ukraine was working on the ground to teach first aid and assist in relief efforts, but members have now evacuated to safety. Locally, the Village Improvement Association of Rehoboth Beach responded with empathy and generosity by donating nearly $5,000 to World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization feeding refugees at the Poland/Ukraine border.

GFWC, the largest women’s international volunteer organization, comprises 22 clubs in Delaware. All responded to the call for donations to organizations that are providing essential services to vulnerable children and families affected by the conflict. Donating to these efforts helps ensure that children have access to clean water, nutrition, healthcare, education and safe conditions.
