Coast Guard Auxiliary 12-09 hosts boat safety course
July 10, 2015
On a beautiful early summer Tuesday at the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean and Environment facility in Lewes, Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-09 conducted a Delaware State Safe Boating Course with 28 Delaware Tech students and faculty members.
Each was attempting to obtain the Delaware state boating certification to qualify to pilot a vessel; required for all who were born after Jan. 1, 1978. Flotilla Public Education Officer Andy Smith led the course, assisted by Coast Guard Auxiliarists Bill Tower and John Ballantyne. Smith was informative and entertaining as he led the group through all the critical boating rules and procedures.
