Coastal Camera Club sets Virtual Beach Bash Feb. 22-23
Coastal Camera Club will host its fifth annual Virtual Beach Bash Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22 and 23. This free Zoom event will showcase two captivating presentations by nationally known speakers Jackie Kramer and Tony Sweet.
Kramer will kick off the event at 3 p.m., Feb. 22, with her presentation, “On Wings and Wonder,” delving into the spectacular world of birds as seen through the eyes of an artist and animal lover. She will talk about practical matters in the field and techniques that complement each other in making images that represent her subjects’ beauty, energy, colors, character, and more. Her insights will touch on topics ranging from preparation to equipment to the photography and post processing. Vivid examples throughout her talk will inspire attendees to plan their own adventure, anywhere from the backyard to a faraway location, so they can share the natural world’s beauty with others through their unique vision and lens.
Sweet will take the virtual stage at 3 p.m., Feb. 23, to present his insights on “Minimalism.” In photography, minimalism is a hot topic where style is characterized by simplicity; the aim is to capture subjects with a minimalistic approach, often emphasizing clean lines, uncluttered compositions, and a sense of space or emptiness. It focuses on conveying the essence of the subject by eliminating any unnecessary elements, leading to contemplative, zen-like quietness. However, Sweet said there are many kinds of minimalism that will be illustrated.
The Coastal Camera Club, based in Lewes, has successfully transitioned its annual Photo Beach Bash to a virtual format over the past four years, attracting a global audience of more than 500 photography enthusiasts. This year's lineup promises to be equally exciting.
“Our club exists today to encourage and promote interest in photography through education and participation in activities and competitions,” said President Doug Strande. “The Photo Beach Bash was started in 2013 as an in-person event to enable us to share the joy of photography beyond the club,”
The virtual event is free to attend, but participants must make reservations at tinyurl.com/2w96cm4x. See complete details including an opportunity to win raffle prizes at coastalcameraclub.com.
