Coastal Concerts announced a stellar array of performers will fill its lineup for 2024-25, with three evening and three afternoon performances. All shows will take place at Bethel United Methodist Church Hall, Fourth and Market streets, Lewes.
The Galvin Cello Quartet, composed of members from China, Brazil, South Korea and the United States, will perform at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5. With their untamable desire to create, change and ultimately bring joy through music, the members bring together new works from diverse cultural backgrounds while seeking to establish the cello quartet as a core part of the classical music world.
Curtis on Tour, featuring Erinys Quartet with violist Roberto Diaz and cellist Peter Wiley, is set for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. Since fall 2023, the Erinys Quartet has been the Nina von Maltzahn String Quartet-in-Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music. The quartet will be joined in concert by Díaz, president and CEO of the Curtis Institute of Music, and Wiley, a 1974 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. Lani Spahr will present Performance Insights at 1 p.m., preceding the show.
The Cann Duo will take the stage at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11. Sisters and pianists Michelle and Kimberly Cann have been making music together since they were in elementary school in Florida. Both grew up playing multiple instruments – steel drums, bassoon, violin, trombone and tuba, to name a few, but the piano was their first love. After performing to a sold-out Coastal Concerts crowd in December 2023, Michelle Cann will return to the stage, this time alongside Kimberly Cann.
A renowned string quartet and the the leading proponent of Latin American music for the genre, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, will play at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22. The cuarteto has toured extensively around the world and premiered more than 100 works written for its musicians.
Boyd Meets Girl will play at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 22. The duo pairs Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd with American cellist Laura Metcalf. They have toured the world sharing their eclectic mix of music from Debussy and Bach to Radiohead and Beyoncé.
For the Wildcard Concert, East of the River will play at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 5. Founded by internationally renowned recorder players Nina Stern and Daphna Mor, East of the River explores haunting and virtuosic melodies from the traditional repertoires of the Balkans, Armenia and the Middle East. The music is arranged and interpreted by musicians whose backgrounds include classical, world music and jazz.
Discounted season subscriptions will go on sale Monday, July 15, at coastalconcerts.org. Single tickets for all concerts will be available via the website Sunday, Sept. 1.
