Coastal Corvette show to benefit youth sports June 11

Jason Anderson Foundation reaches $50,000 grant milestone
June 8, 2022

Since its inception in 2016, the Jason Anderson Foundation for Youth Sports has been focused on providing funding to local youth sports organizations and families in need to ensure all kids get the opportunity to participate in an organized community sports activity.

The foundation remains committed to that effort and announced it has now surpassed $50,000 in grants and scholarships awarded to Delaware communities. Grants and scholarships have ranged from $200 to $3,000 and the money provided has been spread across all three Delaware counties. Based on registration fees, which can range from $35 to $1,000 depending on the sport and length of season, it is estimated that this funding has enabled more than 750 children to participate in local sports programs.

This spring the foundation awarded over $7,000 in grants and scholarships to support kids participating with the Delmarva Destroyers baseball program, Olympiad Gymnastics, Roberto Clemente Baseball League, Tennis Rocks and First Tee.

In support of the foundation, the Coastal Corvette Club will hold its annual car show at i.g. Burton Lewes Automall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 11. Gates open to the public at 8 a.m.

Contestant Corvettes will be judged based on a number of criteria, and prizes will be awarded to winners in several categories. Food trucks and a DJ will be on hand, and various activities will take place on-site. Raffle items include gift baskets, beach and backyard accessory packages, baskets of cheer, gift cards for hotel stays and restaurants, Firefly tickets, and a 50/50 drawing.

All proceeds will benefit The Jason Anderson Foundation for Youth Sports.

Any coach, team manager, sports facility administrator, school counselor or parent who knows of a local sports team or child in need of financial assistance may contact the foundation. To download applications, Delaware youth sports groups and interested parties may go to jasonandersonfoundation.org. There is no time more urgent than now to get kids back on to the playing fields, into the gyms, into the pools and onto the courts to learn the valuable life lessons of teamwork, leadership and friendship.
