Coastline Medical Walk-in Center opens in Milton

January 29, 2010

Coastline Medical Walk-in Center, located off Federal Street in Milton Medical Park, offers evening hours and welcomes those without appointments to be treated for nonlife-threatening illnesses or injuries.

In November, three certified physician assistants teamed up under the supervision of Dr. Beshara Helou to open the clinic in an effort to meet the demands of the growing Milton area.

“There is real demand for quick, high-quality medical care outside the hospital, especially in high-growth areas of our community,” said Aaron Block, clinic co-owner. “It seemed like there was no place like it around here.”

“A lot of patients we see can’t get in to see a primary-care doctor,” said co-owner Peter Chung. Co-owner Greg Sender joins Block and Chung to offer treatment of ear infections, sore throats, minor burns, fractures and sprains.

“The goal is not to compete with the primary-care doctors, but to provide medical treatment as needed,” said Block.

Services are offered seven days a week, and the clinic is open until 8 p.m., weekdays. Coastline is also located next to Dr. Jonathan Patterson’s Ocean Medical Imaging. Getting x-rays and internal digital scans next door makes it convenient for patients and also allows for quick turnaround time, said Block.

“We, together, can help keep 50 percent of the people out of emergency rooms,” said Patterson. “We’re creating a circle of subspecialties,” he said.

“Now patients in the Milton area can avoid beach traffic in the summer and get comprehensive treatment closer to home,” said Sender.

Coastline Medical Walk-in Center is at 611 Federal St. The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday. For details, call 302-329-9046 or visit coastlinemedical.org
