Col. David Hall Chapter DAR thanks legislators for support

Bayside Exteriors professionals are working replace the cedar shake roof on the Maull House in Lewes, home of the Col. David Hall Chapter DAR.
Work is underway to replace the deteriorated roof at the Maull House in Lewes.

The Col. David Hall Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, recently held a legislators appreciation ceremony.

Sen. Ernesto Lopez, R-Lewes, Speaker of the House Rep. Peter Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, and Rep. Stephen Smyk, R-Milton, received DAR certificates and challenge coins for their support of the $50,000 Delaware Community Reinvestment Fund grant to replace the deteriorated Maull House roof. Bayside Exteriors, experienced in historic roofing, has begun to replace the cedar shake roof.

The 1739 Maull House on Pilottown Road is the only DAR-owned and maintained structure in Delaware. It remains on its original lot, and was purchased and restored by the chapter in the 1960s. The Maull House is on the National Register of Historic Places and will be part of the Lewes Historical Society's 49th Christmas House Tour Saturday, Dec. 3.
