Colin Clifford Friend, veteran, retired postal worker
Colin Clifford Friend, 78, of Lewes, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Pinnacle Health in Smyrna.
He was born March 29, 1945, in Lewes, son of the late Cecil Randall Friend and Hettie Evelyn (Rickards) Friend.
Colin was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy. For over 20 years he worked for the postal service, first as a clerk in the Lewes Post Office and later as a rural carrier in Milford until his retirement.
Colin had a good heart and enjoyed sitting in his yard waving to everyone as they passed by.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Friend; and two brothers Perry and Carl Friend.
Surviving are his siblings, Junior Friend and his wife Barbara, William Friend, Mary Pulley, Steve Friend and his wife Shelly, Brenda Yeager, Randy Friend and his wife JoAnn, and Carol Friend; three stepchildren, Linda Hadder of Lewes, George Hadder and his wife Tammy of Milton, and William Hadder of Lewes. Colin is also survived by three grandchildren, Amanda Rogers and her husband Ken of Georgetown, George Hadder Jr. and his wife Alicia of Georgetown, and Jeremy Hadder and his wife Kelsey of Milton; six great-grandchildren, Cole and Caleb Rogers of Georgetown, Arabella and Hudson Hadder of Georgetown, and Ford and Sutton Hadder of Milton; and former daughter-in-law, Terry M. Brewster and her husband Howard of Georgetown.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Lewes.
