The City of Lewes recently named Cory Castagnaro as the recipient of the 2019 Elaine Bisbee Award. The award is handed out each year to a city employee who displays dedication, dependability, reliability and excellent work habits, and who is team-oriented and committed to providing quality service. The award winner is typically announced at city council’s March regular meeting, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the presentation was delayed until October.
Castagnaro, a member of the city’s streets department, was nominated by 2017 award winner Pat Liberto. In her nomination she wrote: “Cory is one of the most pleasant people at the City of Lewes to work with. He is consistent with his professionalism, kindness and accommodating demeanor. He makes it clear he truly loves his job and is so appreciative for the opportunity to be here. No matter how busy Cory is, he remains respectful and patient to everyone. His quality performance makes him an asset to the City of Lewes and a pleasure to be around. Cory is well deserving of the Elaine Bisbee Service Award.”
Mayor Ted Becker, City Manager Ann Marie Townshend and Assistant City Manager Ellen Lorraine McCabe surprised Castagnaro with the award Oct. 12. Castagnaro’s parents and the entire streets department were in attendance.
“Cory is a very kind, gentle-hearted guy who really does his best to serve everyone he comes in contact with,” Becker said.
