December 16, 2022

A search for a parking space in Milton Dec. 15 ended up with a car submerged in the Broadkill River at the boat ramp at Milton Memorial Park.

Capt. Sherrie Harmon of Milton Police Department said a Frankford man, unfamiliar with the area, was looking for a parking space behind the library and ended up driving down the boat ramp and into the water. Harmon said the man managed to get out of the car on his own and swim to safety. Onlookers called in emergency personnel, but the man was not injured.

Milton and Delaware State Police, Coastal Towing and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control police were able to remove the car in the morning of Dec. 16.
