If "All the world's a stage," then audiences in the Cape Region are getting a real taste of Broadway this month. In its series of special event fundraisers to support Clear Space Theatre Company, Crooked Hammock Brewery is welcoming two talented performers from New York City for a special dinner and show Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Broadway actors Mackenzie Jones and Jacob Waldron will be here to star in this special production.

"Our first event in January gave a preview of the upcoming Clear Space season. This month's event gives our guests an opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy a full show along with a delicious dinner," says Josh Grapski, managing partner for La Vida Hospitality Group which operates the popular brewery and restaurant. "Definitely a welcome break in the middle of winter!"

Sponsored by Schell Brothers, February's event is the second of three fundraisers for this local, nonprofit theatre group. Since January, Crooked Hammock is donating 25 cents to Clear Space from every pint of beer that is sold. For each of the monthly events, Clear Space members partner with the local sponsors to create an entertaining experience for its Crooked Hammock audience. The final event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21.

This is the third year in a row that Grapski's group has supported local nonprofits at the popular Lewes brewery and restaurant. In its first year, Crooked Hammock launched "Beers for Books" to benefit the Lewes Library in 2016; and last year's "Beers for Bravery" was in support of Sussex County's first responders. "One of La Vida's core values is giving back to our community," explains Grapski. And that's good news for the nonprofits. So far over $15,000 has been raised to support these deserving groups.

"I am grateful for our Beers for Broadway partnership with Crooked Hammock," says Wesley Paulson, Clear Space Theatre Company's executive director. "Our January event was very successful, and I look forward to the February big-city-to-the-beach dinner with Jacob and Mackenzie." He's referring to the two performers making their way to Sussex County from the Big Apple. Both performers are graduates of the CAP21 Musical Theatre Conservatory in New York City.

Jacob Waldron’s credits include “On the Town” (Gabey); “A Chorus Line” (Don); and The Three Little Pigs, The Musical” (The Big Bad Wolf). Mackenzie Jones has performed in “Little Shop of Horrors” (ATC); “Guys and Dolls” and “Junie B. Jones” (Weston Playhouse). She recently appeared in Rob Rokicki's MonsterSongs album release concert with composer Joe Iconis.
