Cruisin’ Crab set to hit the road
After spending the winter months helping Cape Region customers get their crab fix, the Cruising Crab, Surfing Crab’s new food truck, is set to hit the road this summer.
Morgan Burdis, head chef for Surfing Crab, said the plan is for the truck to go on the road by Wednesday, March 12, when the main restaurant opens for the season. Burdis said the truck will have a flexible menu.
Plans are for the truck to appear regularly at Lewes Brewing Company and at Fifer Orchards. It will also work select events, but logistics are still being worked out.
“We’re really excited to do this,” Burdis said.
The truck opened this winter to help keep locals happy while the restaurant was closed for the season. The truck sold hard-shell crabs, but Burdis said that won’t be the case in the summer, as the menu will be focused on items such as crab cakes and chicken wings.
“We wanted to establish the name for it before we go into the summer,” Burdis said. “We wanted to keep the locals happy and get a feel for the truck.”
