Daniel Dean Donovan, devoted fireman
Daniel Dean Donovan, 63, of Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at his residence in Millsboro. He was born July 23, 1961, in Lewes, son of the late Henry Miller Donovan and Irma Mae Beideman Donovan.
Daniel was a former owner of Donovan-Smith Mobile Home Park in Lewes for 15 years. He was always willing to help anyone in need and would go out of his way to complete whatever the task may have been. Daniel was a devoted fireman and life member of Lewes Fire Department. In his free time, he enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled airplanes with his friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Donovan of Millsboro; a son, Eric Schools of New Jersey; stepson, Nicholas Toohey of Delaware; grandchildren, Marqus Donovan of Millsboro, and Makenna Greer of Magnolia; a sister, KaArin Schaer of Connecticut; niece, Angelia Donovan of Lewes; dear friends, Ernie Stanley and Shawn McCue, both of Millsboro; friend and boss, Bud Simon of Rehoboth Beach; ex-wife, Dawn McCue of Millsboro; and plenty of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Final call will follow the services at Lewes Fire Department, Station 1, Savannah Road, Lewes.
