Daniel R. Bratten, Station 91 EMT

March 26, 2018

Daniel R. Bratten, 49, quietly fell asleep in death  Monday, March 12, 2018.

Daniel was born Jan. 10, 1969, in Newark, N.J., and grew up in the Georgetown area.

Daniel is survived by his wife, of almost seven years, Tamara Toomey Bratten of Millsboro; his mother, Bertha Bratten of Georgetown; and his father, Richard Robinson of North Carolina. He is also survived by his son, Seth Bratten; his stepson, Christian Toomey; and nine grandchildren (four granddaughters and five grandsons). His daughter, Dana preceded him in death in November 2016. In addition, Daniel is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many dear friends who loved him dearly.

Daniel attended school in the Indian River School District, eventually getting his GED. He took part in continuing education and became an EMT with Station 91 in Long Neck. It brought him great joy to help people.

Daniel was a carpenter by trade, but was willing to learn whatever else he could or needed to in order to be able to help others.

He loved music, playing this guitars and singing, especially the blues. He loved, loved, loved nature and all that it offered him to enjoy.

He enjoyed making other people laugh, but could be very serious when needed to be.
He dedicated his life to his God, Jehovah, being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses May 14, 1988. His joy was his family and telling others he met about the undeserved kindness of God in sending "his only-begotten son, in order that everyone who exercises faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life." John 3:16. Dan spent many hours helping others to learn God's purpose for them and the Bible's promise of a wonderful hope of a much better future to come. Daniel believed God's promise that the "righteous will inherit the earth and live forever upon it." Psalm 37:29. Daniel waits in sleep for the time, in the near future, when Jesus promised that "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." John 5:28, 29

One of Daniel's favorite scriptures was Isaiah 41:10..."Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you. I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness."

Daniel touched the hearts of many people with his genuine love and interest in them. For now, he "rests from his labors, for the things he did go right with him." Revelation 14:13

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
