DAR Maull House to light up April 18-19

April 16, 2025

As part of Lewes’ kickoff commemorations of the nation’s 250th birthday, Lewes neighbors in the Villages of Five Points and other communities will be participating in Two Lights for Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19, by placing two lights in their windows as a symbol of hope and unity.

Joining in celebrating the bravery of forefathers and foremothers in gaining freedom, the Col. David Hall Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will also shine two lights at the Thomas Maull House, 536 Pilottown Road, Lewes. The Maull House was home to four Revolutionary War patriots.

The initiative honors the legacy of Paul Revere’s midnight ride April 18, 1775. Legend has it that Revere warned colonists, “the British are coming,” which sparked the Revolutionary War. The Two Lights event is part of a nationwide effort by the Daughters of the American Revolution. It is a reference to the two lanterns hung in Boston’s Old North Church that signaled the British forces were arriving by sea.
