David Kevin Burnell, great sense of humor

David Kevin Burnell, 49, of Lewes passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. He was born Thursday, Oct. 5, 1967, in Fredericksburg, Va., the son of Susan B. Aceto of Millsboro.

David was a longtime resident of the Lewes and Rehoboth Beach areas, and a 1986 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. David will be remembered for his great cooking, fun sense of humor, his love of sports, fishing, family and friends, and always being the life of every party. He was a loving and devoted son, fiancé, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

He is survived by his mother, Susan B. Aceto; his fiancée, Mary Ann Hicks and her son, Ross; his brother, Eric Brooks of Chicago, Ill.; his sister, Jessica Andrieux and her husband Ron of Virginia; his nephews, Dante and Vincent; and his extended family in Virginia.

An Open Gathering celebrating David's life will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at The Crooked Hammock in Lewes.

All services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, where a Gift Fund has been established in David's name.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
