David L. Achey Jr., veteran, Boeing retiree
David L. Achey Jr., 85, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, in Milford. He was born May 25, 1938, in Schuylkill Haven, Pa., cherished son of the late David Sr. and Dora Achey.
David graduated from Ridley High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the Air Force from 1956-60. David married his beloved wife, Jessie, in 1962 and settled in Delaware Country, Pa., where they raised their children, David and Vicki. After a dedicated career of 33 years at Boeing, he retired in 1994 and relocated to Rehoboth Beach. David and Jessie built their home on the waterfront in Pinewater Farms.
David was an avid traveler. He and Jessie traveled to all 50 states and had many adventures with the Grand Circle Travel on their land and river cruises. They visited Italy, China, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa on safaris, the Fiji Islands, and Hawaii. In addition to traveling, throughout his rich life, David pursued a plethora of interests, including hunting, fishing, woodworking, and boating, each of which brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
David's legacy is lovingly remembered by his two children, David L. Achey III (Lori) and Vicki Jarvie (Patrick); along with his adored grandchildren, David L. Achey IV, Jamie Trogdon, Elizabeth Jarvie and Ross Jarvie; and great-grandchildren Mina Trogdon and Breland Trogdon. He also leaves behind his sisters, Gladys A. Edgar and Patricia A. Palo. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jessie Faye Achey. David's memory will continue to be a beacon of love and resilience in the hearts of his family.
Services for David will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
