David W. Donovan Jr., proud veteran

August 20, 2024

David W. Donovan Jr., aka Duck, 92, of Milford since 1984, passed away at his home.

Dave was born in Milton to the late David and Martha Donovan. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth; a son, Jeff of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Deborah of Milford; granddaughter, Roseanne; his sister, Martha Jane and husband Mike of Milton; and a bunch of cousins (you know who you are).

Now I’m not going to bother you all by listing all of my accomplishments because there probably weren’t that many anyway. And who cares now – I’m dead! I was proud of my 21 years spent in the military, though. I got to go and see a lot of places I wouldn’t have normally, some nice, some not so nice!

I’ve had a good life; no need to complain, although I know damn well I have. After all, I was human!

Raise a glass to me, if you’re so inclined to imbibe occasionally.

This humorous obituary was penned by Dave himself, reflecting the wit and warmth that he brought to all who knew him.

Services and interment are private.

Arrangements are in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
