David Wootten signs with Mansfield University

David Wootten, a Sussex Central senior who runs cross country and middle distance on the track, has signed a letter of intent to attend Mansfield University in north central Pennsylvania. The Mountaineers are a Division II program in the tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The school has 1,700 undergraduate students and is 328 miles from Sussex Central as the Canada goose flies. Mike Rohl has been the head cross country coach for the past 18 years, while Jamal Johnson is in his first season as head coach of men’s and women’s track & field.
“I see myself as more of a track guy than a cross country guy,” Wootten said.
Wootteen will compete in the Henlopen Conference Championships this weekend and the DIAA Championship May 21-22.
