Coastal Camera Club invites all to attend A Day of Photography Inspiration & Education from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at Lewes Presbyterian Church meeting hall. During a Photographic Society of America print competition in the morning, judges will provide insights on the various photographs. The 2018 Erik Kissa Memorial Medal, a PSA Gold, will be awarded in the inaugural Best of Delaware print competition. Everyone in attendance can learn by listening to the commentary and participating in an interactive discussion with jurors.
Attendees may bring a brown-bag lunch and enjoy it with others while they listen to photographers Andy Gordon and David Neff provide insights and a demonstration that incorporates technology and technique. A flea market table will include gently used photography gear. Attendees also can head out to one of the local Lewes restaurants for lunch. Fine art photographer Andy Gordon will give an inspirational keynote program, “Embarking on Your Creative Journey,” at 2 p.m.
Gordon said, “We live in a beautiful world and examples are everywhere. With all my images, I try to help people think more about this wondrous place we live in and help ignite their own creative fires." He will share examples from his own creative journey where personal and professional growth were influenced by disruptive life events. Beginning with a series of abstract iPhone images, his work evolved into complex macro imagery using state-of-the-art digital capture and lighting technologies. “Technology is only a tool for enhancing what I see and creating images of things that might otherwise be overlooked,” said Gordon. “I’ll talk about using technology to enhance images, but what’s most important is how people can use it to make art that is unique, personal and important to themselves."
The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. For more information and to register, go to www.eventbrite.com or www.coastalcameraclub.com.
