A July 22 franchise agreement between Dewey Beach Enterprises and an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corp. provides Ruddertowne in Dewey Beach a coveted place among the more than 450 premier properties located in 45 countries in six continents that are all part of the worldwide portfolio of Hyatt-branded hotels.
"This is a watershed event for a world-renowned hotel company such as Hyatt to choose Dewey Beach,” said Jim Baeurle, Dewey Beach Enterprises executive director and partner.
“This agreement further validates our unwavering belief that Dewey Beach is a unique resort destination with unlimited potential for extended seasonal growth,” Baeurle said, noting that DBE’s achievement in securing the Hyatt Place franchise will have a positive economic effect on property values, year-round employment and family entertainment choices in Dewey Beach.
Headquartered in Chicago, Hyatt Hotels Corp. is a widely recognized global hospitality company with a tradition of innovation and authentic hospitality developed over more than 50 years. Hyatt and its affiliates manage, franchise, own and develop Hyatt-branded hotels, resorts, and residential and vacation ownership properties around the world.
Meyer Jabara Hotels, an award-winning hospitality company owning and operating premier hotels in 13 states, has been retained by DBE to operate the new Hyatt Place hotel and adjacent conference center.
DBE will now resume its construction activity on Phase 1 of the project, which first began last summer, so that Hyatt Place Dewey Beach can begin marketing and accepting reservations starting May 2013.
The DBE mixed-use redevelopment project will include residential condominiums, retail stores and restaurants, hotel complex and conference center, and public amenities. The project will create hundreds of construction and permanent jobs; and will allow DBE to develop family-friendly attractions and a 21st century convention complex identified in the Dewey Beach Comprehensive Plan.
