Del-One Federal Credit Union and the Springboard Collaborative have signed a memorandum of understanding that calls for Del-One to be the exclusive financial institution to provide literacy programs and workshops to Georgetown Pallet Village residents, and to provide an onsite ATM.

President and CEO Ron Baron said, “The partnership is one among several community outreach efforts that Del-One is committed to providing not only financial literacy and financial wellness, but also volunteer and financial support to outstanding programs like the Georgetown Pallet Village.”

Del-One, through a partnership with VISA, donated $50,000 toward the building of the village’s community center, which will be used for meals, mental and physical health services, job training, financial literacy training, workshops and recreation.

“Del-One’s teammates are embracing the opportunity to work with individual residents to assist them on their financial journeys. The chance of making a difference in a fellow Delawarean’s life is extremely gratifying,” Barron said. In addition, Del-One staff will provide weekly financial wellness assistance on subjects such as banking basics, budgeting and money management.

The collaborative has recently opened the village. This group of tiny homes in Georgetown provides shelter as well as community support for close to 50 residents. The village is transitional housing for those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.

In addition to the homes that provide air conditioning, heating and electricity, the village also has common bathrooms with showers on a fence-enclosed property monitored by staff during the day and by professional security at night. Meals are provided to residents, along with access to transportation for off-site programs and job searching.

Del-One Federal Credit Union has $657 million in assets with full-service branch locations throughout Delaware and serves more than 77,000 members. Go to del-one.org for more information.
