The Delaware Farm Bureau is currently accepting applications from students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the field of marketing/business or agriculture for its 2025 summer internship program. College students interested in gaining hands-on experience in agriculture while developing their advocacy and leadership skills are encouraged to apply by Tuesday, Dec. 31.
“I loved getting to connect with local farmers and having the opportunity to teach younger generations about the importance of farming and agriculture,” said Kira Manuszak. As an intern, she worked with the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation visiting local schools and summer camps to educate students about agriculture and its relevance to their daily lives. She also collaborated with other interns to promote Delaware agriculture on social media, visiting farm stands and farmers markets to create engaging content.
The 2024 summer interns launched the social media campaign Why Farm Bureau, which featured short videos of DEFB members highlighting the benefits of membership. Interns also monitored and managed the bureau’s social media platforms, producing content that showcased and promoted agriculture.
Beau Davis said, “It was great to hear why it’s so important for farmers and members of our community to be a member. I was able to meet so many amazing people from my time at DEFB.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome the 2025 interns,” said Alexis Langenfelder, DEFB ag literacy and program coordinator. “They bring fresh ideas and skills that contribute to our growth. Engaging the younger generation is important to preserving the agricultural way of life.”
Candidates should have extensive knowledge of digital media platforms, photography and videography. Proficiency in Microsoft applications is preferred. Candidates should also be comfortable with public speaking and be willing to travel statewide for social media content creation and agricultural outreach.
To apply, submit a resume, cover letter and one letter of recommendation from a professor or previous employer to alexis.langenfelder@defb.org by Dec. 31.
