Delaware GOP to host Trump press secretary Oct. 20

The Delaware Republican Party will celebrate Constitution Day at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Harrington Raceway and Casino.

The event will recognize the freedoms that the U.S. Constitution and Delaware Constitution protect.

Sean Spicer, President Donald Trump’s former press secretary, will be the featured speaker. He will deliver a strong message about the importance of the Constitution and the 2022 election.

“Recently, our state Supreme Court gave power to the words of the Delaware Constitution,” said Jane Brady, Delaware Republican Party chair. “Our constitution protects all of us and ensures our freedoms by limiting government, establishing our rights, and defining the way our leaders govern. This amazing document, now 235 years old, has never been more important."

Brady and attorney general candidate Julianne Murray filed separate lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of vote-by-mail and same-day registration laws. A Chancery Court decision allowed same-day registration to continue for the upcoming Nov. 8 general election, but ruled that the vote-by-mail law was unconstitutional. Following a decision issued Oct. 7 by the Delaware Supreme Court, residents will not be allowed to vote by mail or register to vote on Election Day.

Thus the procedures for the general election Tuesday, Nov. 8, will return to the pre-pandemic practices that have been in place for many years.

Spicer defended Trump’s freedom of speech and worked with the media for a significant part of the Trump term. Attendees at the event can meet and chat with Spicer and Brady. Spicer will also autograph his new book, “Radical Nation,” which will be on sale at the event.

Tickets are $50 and include a buffet dinner. Cocktails will be available at a cash bar.
