Delaware Humane, SPCA to lower adoption fees March 1-6

Shelters offer $22 adoption fees for all animals waiting over 22 days in their care
February 25, 2022

Delaware Humane Association and Delaware SPCA, two Delaware-based animal adoption centers, are teaming up with North Shore Animal League America in Tour For Life 2022, the world’s largest cooperative pet adoption event.

In partnership with Rachael Ray Nutrish, Delaware Humane and Delaware SPCA will join partners and animal rescue groups from 53 cities and 37 states across the United States to promote safe adoption events and help adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens find responsible, loving homes.

From Tuesday, March 1 through Sunday, March 6, the adoption fee for all cats and dogs that have been waiting more than 22 days will be reduced to just $22 at Delaware Humane and Delaware SPCA. This special adoption fee will be valid at Delaware Humane’s Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington adoption centers and at Delaware SPCA in Christiana/Stanton. This promotion cannot be combined with other discounts or applied to animals in foster to adopt or holds.

Those interested in adding a furry friend to their families can browse available adoptable pets at delawarehumane.org and delspca.org. All available animals will appear online if applications are being accepted for their adoption.

Prior to adoption, all animals from Delaware Humane and Delaware SPCA are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and examined by a vet.

Folks interested in adoption at Delaware Humane are encouraged to submit an adoption questionnaire at delawarehumane.org/adopt/how-to-adopt before visiting. Both Delaware Humane Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington adoption center locations are open to the public from 12 to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

An adoption questionnaire for Delaware SPCA can be submitted at delspca.org/adopt/adoption-process prior to visiting. The Stanton/Christiana Adoption center is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday to Friday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.
