Gov. John Carney, Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long and the Delaware General Assembly honored local government officials May 9 during the annual Delaware Local Government Day event held at Legislative Hall in Dover.
Hall-Long, a longtime local government supporter, hosted the group in the Tatnall Building, where she greeted those working on the front lines of local government. The all-day event was co-hosted by the Delaware League of Local Governments. Hall-Long thanked the officeholders and administrators for their local community service.
Following a lunch hosted by Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation, the group headed over to Carney’s office in Leg Hall, where he signed a proclamation honoring the nearly 30 attendees for their public service. Afterward, the group sat in the gallery and on the floor in the Senate and House chambers where tributes were also given.
