Delaware Master Naturalist volunteer training applications due Jan. 10

December 18, 2024

The Delaware Master Naturalist Program trains citizens as ambassadors and stewards of Delaware’s natural resources and ecosystems through science-based education and volunteer opportunities.

Delaware Master Naturalist volunteers work with with local nonprofits committed to environmental stewardship and public education about the First State’s native surroundings and wildlife.

“The Delaware Master Naturalist Program is a valuable network with more than 100 active trained volunteers,” said Blake Moore, a University of Delaware Cooperative Extension agent for horticulture and natural resources who serves as program coordinator. “Delaware Master Naturalists come from various professional and personal backgrounds, and unite selflessly to provide a continued commitment to nature through stewardship, citizen science and education.”

An eight-week training course will meet via Zoom from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Jan. 22 to March 12. A field component to the training will start in March and continue through the end of the year. Only four field trips are required. There is also a 40-hour volunteer commitment annually.
