Sussex Academy High School will present the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia” at 7 p.m., Friday, April 28, and 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, April 29, at 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown.
ABBA's hits tell the invigorating story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny, funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The storytelling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship. A mother, a daughter, three possible dads, and a pending trip down the aisle create an unforgettable show.
The cast stars senior Haley Cummins as Donna Sheridan and sophomore Alex DeEmedio as Sophie, her daughter, with junior Nate Nagy playing Sky, Sophie’s fiancé. Donna’s Dynamos trio is rounded out with freshman Abby Whitcomb as Tanya and sophomore Elaina Marsch as Rosie. Senior Jackson Whitcomb, junior Aidan French and sophomore Aidan Wiggins play Sophie’s three possible fathers, and 24 more high school students complete the cast.
Tickets for “Mamma Mia” are $10 for adults and $5 for students; they may be purchased at the door or online at showtix4u.com. There will be an intermission during which snacks and concessions will be sold.
