Delaware State Senate District 6 candidate forum set Oct. 22
The League of Women Voters of Sussex County will host a forum featuring candidates for Delaware State Senate District 6 from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Lewes Elementary School, 820 Savannah Road, Lewes.
Democratic incumbent Russ Huxtable and Republican Kim Hoey Stevenson will field questions from the audience. Dr. Marlene Saunders will be the moderator.
The 6th State Senate District includes Milton, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.Voters can find their representative district numbers on their Delaware polling place card or by entering their address at vote411.org, the League of Women Voters’ online guide.
Legislative authority and responsibilities of the Delaware State Senate include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring written questions, legibly printed on a 3-by-5-inch card. Note cards and pencils for posing questions will also be available at the door and from monitors in the aisles throughout the program. ASL Connections will provide sign language interpretation.
