Delaware Tech students confirm voter registration status

September 30, 2024

On National Voter Registration Day, students at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown had the opportunity to engage with representatives from the League of Women Voters Sussex County.

Delaware Tech academic counselor Jose Miller worked with league members to coordinate the effort Sept. 17, the same date that National Constitution Day is celebrated across the country.

The league’s outreach programs include voter registration and voter education efforts aimed at providing citizens with the tools they need to feel empowered and make informed election decisions.

Many students complete registration for voting when they obtain their Delaware driver’s licenses. Automatic voter registration creates a seamless system between the Division of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Elections for transferring new voters’ registrant data into the state’s voter registration database. DOE staff reviews each record, and once sufficient age eligibility is verified, the individual is added to the list of Delaware registered voters.
