Delaware Tourism Office hosts summit for industry professionals

December 27, 2023

The Delaware Tourism Summit, held Dec. 6 at Delaware Technical Community College in Dover, provided a day of learning for industry professionals.

Hosted by the Delaware Tourism Office, the summit offered an opportunity for business leaders to share ideas and insights.

“The tourism industry is vital to Delaware’s economy,” said Gov. John Carney. “This success would not be possible without the hard work of each of you. We appreciate what you do to create unique experiences for residents and travelers.”

Attendees participated in various panels and breakout sessions, covering topics such as how small businesses can work with media, data-driven decision making in sports tourism, profiting from the latest group travel trends, and accessibility in Delaware’s tourism industry.

Throughout the day, there were opportunities to network with attendees and speakers. Keynote speaker Sara Meaney, CEO of the Coraggio Group, touched on what makes someone a great leader. “Leadership has no finish line; leadership is rooted in what we stand for; leadership requires a genuine belief in others and more,” she said.

At the end of the day, attendees were thanked for their commitment to the tourism industry. “We hope our partners left the summit feeling inspired,” said Jaclyn Ott, Delaware Tourism marketing manager. “We want professionals in the industry to feel excited and prepared for 2024 with new ideas and concepts to think about.”
