Delaware updates list of unclaimed property
Delaware Division of Revenue Director Patrick Carter recently announced Delaware will publish the names of approximately 85,000 owners of unclaimed property on revenue.delaware.gov.

The published list includes property that has been reported to the Delaware state escheator by corporations and other entities. It is not real estate but instead monetary items such as stock; wages; refunds; uncashed, undelivered or unclaimed dividends; deposits; interest; payments for goods and services; debentures; bonds; and more.

Delaware Division of Revenue A claim form or request for additional information will then be mailed to the claimant for completion. Due to the size of this publication and the expected response, claims may take as long as 16 weeks from the receipt of the request to process. |
The publication will set forth the names and addresses of people appearing to be the owners of unclaimed funds abandoned and delivered to the Delaware state escheator pursuant to Delaware code.
To claim property for a name listed, claimants must have their name appear on the published list, be an executor of an estate or an heir, and believe they have reason to file a claim. Claimants must then complete the coupon that appears with the published list or download the coupon from revenue.delaware.gov.
In addition to the coupon, all claimants must include a photo identification of their driver’s license or other applicable identification before the claim will be initiated.
Also, if inquiring about property not listed in their names, claimants must provide documentation demonstrating a legal right to claim the property, such as a certified letter of testamentary or small-estate affidavit for estates or a notarized power of attorney for a living person.
