Delaware Watercolor Society exhibit continues at Biggs Museum

November 12, 2022

Artists and patrons gathered at the Biggs Museum of American Art Oct. 29 for the opening reception of the Delaware Watercolor Society exhibition.

Some 33 paintings, submitted by 23 accomplished DWS artists, were selected by juror Alexis Lavine, NWS, TWSA. Museum personnel were impressed with the quality of the show, so much so they purchased Winifred Way’s painting “Working at Spencer’s Auction” for the Biggs’ private collection. The outstanding painting also secured the first-place award for Way.

Also receiving award recognitions were Joan Judge, second place for “Daisy Chain,” and Brad Hastings, third place for “Semaphore Morning.”

Merit awards were presented to Anna Bellenger for “Child’s Play #1 – Marble Maze”; Isabel Pizzolato, “Time Keepers”; and Cathy Walls, “Fantastic Noise at the Lady Bug Music Fest.”

Museum visitors are encouraged to pick up the watercolor society’s program, which includes the list of artists, purchase prices, and the juror’s statement and comments regarding the award winners.

The exhibit will be on display through Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Biggs Museum of American Art, 406 Federal St., Dover.
