Delaware Women’s Club donates 50 new bras to breast cancer coalition
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition recently announced a donation of 50 new bras from the General Federation of Women's Clubs Federation Guild Association to benefit the Bosom Buddy Program. Through the support of community members such as Susan Straughn, daughter of Odella Handy Straughn, past president of GFWC New Jersey State Federal Women's Clubs, and Maxine McWhorter Ungerbuehler, president of the guild, the organization donated the new bras for distribution to breast cancer patients; and Bras for a Cause, a unique fundraiser for the coalition featuring male models wearing decorated bras.
For more information on guild projects, contact Ungerbuehler at 302-633-3373. The group is currently collecting gently used shoes of all types and sizes for the Water Step program, and warm coats for veterans.
The Bosom Buddy Fund of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, in honor of Sue Ryan, provides free bras and prosthetics to uninsured, under-insured and medically underserved women. The program is also in collaboration with Del Med Health in Lewes. For more information about the Bosom Buddy Fund or other DBCC programs, call 302-644-6844.
