Delmarva Christian basketball teams advance to ESIAC finals

Games to be held at separate sites Feb. 19

The Delmarva Christian basketball teams each earned wins Feb. 17 to punch their tickets to the ESIAC tournament finals Saturday, Feb. 19. The problem is that the games will be at the same time at two different locations. The girls, who defeated Holly Grove 63-21, will play Sts. Peter & Paul at Delmarva Christian, while the boys, who grounded the Mallards of Worcester Prep 65-58, will play at The Salisbury School. Both games are at 1 p.m.

Junior Ainsley Bell led the Royals with 28 points, seven rebounds and six steals. Sierra Troyer posted a double-double, scoring 13 points, 11 steals, six assists, four rebounds and a block. Kaela Mitchell scored a double-double with 12 points, 10 assists, five steals and three rebounds. Evelyn Jensen hit for six points, three rebounds and a block. Mia Elliott scored six points, four rebounds and four steals. Ryley McCluskey hit for seven points. Lily Hutt, Elizabeth Moyer, Maggie Kwiatkowski and Josephine Peranteau teamed to add depth to the Royals’ totals.

The Royals boys’ squad was led by Dontarius Jones and Gabe Herling with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Jeremiah Hannah added nine, while Carter Breasure hit for eight and Ed Higgins tallied three.

The Mallards were led by Brice Richins with 22 points. Michael Wehberg added 12. Jack Gardner and Harrison Humes hit for eight points each. Griffin Jones, Bennett Tinkler and Baylor Hoen teamed for eight.
