Delmarva Christian girls’ soccer slips past Milford in OT

Taylor nets winner in 87th minute for first win of 2025
March 30, 2025

Going 1-2 through the first three games, the Delmarva Christian girls’ soccer team had an up-and-down first week. The Royals’ lone victory thrillingly came against local rival Milford.

Following a 2-0 away loss to Lake Forest in the season opener March 25, the Royals rebounded when they traveled to Milford.

Regulation featured a couple of scoring chances from Delmarva Christian and the host Buccaneers during the March 27 match, but the defenses held strong to snuff out any danger in the middle of the box. Royals’ keeper, sophomore Tori Royster, stopped five shots, while her counterpart, Milford senior Emery Miller, picked up four saves, as both keepers held clean sheets through the first 80 minutes.

Delmarva Christian sophomore Madeline Taylor finally broke the ice, and iced the game, in the 87th minute to give the Royals their first win of the year.

In a quick turnaround, perennial powerhouse Saint Mark’s came into town March 28 and rode out with a 9-1 victory.

In the coming week, the Royals will travel to Red Lion Christian Academy and Wilmington Christian School.
