Delta Waterfowl Bay to Bay Chapter raises $3,300 for KSI

March 10, 2024

Members of the Delta Waterfowl Bay to Bay Chapter recently visited KSI to present a $3,300 donation that was part of proceeds from its annual fundraising banquet. Delta Waterfowl is a national organization started in 1911 and based in Bismark, N.D., with the mission of promoting research to increase waterfowl production and preserve the future of waterfowl hunting.

After learning of Delta Waterfowl’s mission, 17 year-old Ashton Stafford, his 21 year-old brother Austin, 16 year-old cousin Ethan Stafford and 22-year-old friend Gage Williams decided to start and lead the Bay to Bay Chapter out of Felton with local waterfowl enthusiasts. The chapter’s inaugural banquet in 2023 raised $99,000 for Delta Waterfowl’s mission, which was a national chapter record for fundraising in a single event. The Bay to Bay Chapter held its second annual banquet Feb. 10 at Delaware State Fairgrounds, which included live and silent auction packages to raise money. The chapter outdid itself with the 2024 banquet, raising $122,000 to support proliferation of waterfowl in Delaware.

One part of this year’s banquet was a legacy table honoring past KSI Vice President Ann Haggerty, who was a supportive Bay to Bay Chapter friend. It included a special auction package that elicited a $3,300 winning bid that was donated to KSI to support programs for people with disabilities who were near and dear to Haggerty’s heart. The generous gesture honored an individual who had tremendous impact on countless Delawareans’ lives.

KSI is a nonprofit agency providing vocational training, employment, community integration, transportation, day habilitation, life enrichment and nutritional services to individuals with disabilities throughout Kent and Sussex counties. Learn more at ksiinc.org.
